AMRESCO History
The origins of AMRESCO date back to the 1960’s where the company began under the name of Applied Research. At that time, the main business involved the manufacturing and extraction of clinically significant enzymes from animal tissues. The company produced these materials on a custom basis for many of the large diagnostic companies that were performing clinical analysis. With increasing demand for high quality materials, Applied Research expanded into manufacturing clinical chemistry reagents as well.
In 1976, the company moved to Northeast Ohio, just south of Cleveland. Looking to expand into other areas of research products, the company formally started operations under the name of American Research Products Company. The company’s main focus then became servicing the diagnostic markets as a supplier of raw materials and as a custom manufacturer.
As the company continued to evolve, it began researching, developing and producing products for additional markets including molecular biology, microbiology, biotechnology, and biopharmaceutical.
The company name was shortened to AMRESCO in 1987 to reflect the company’s growing global reach.
A unique line of Histology products was developed and patented by AMRESCO during the early 1990’s. AMRESCO has also received patents on several other products developed for the molecular biology area of research.
Today AMRESCO has evolved into an organization with two different operating divisions - Branded Research Products and Bulk/OEM Products serving more than 10,000 customers around the globe. AMRESCO currently employs hundreds of people and operates out of the Southeastern Cleveland suburb of Solon, Ohio, producing thousands of products and several major product lines.
AMRESCO has sucessfully grown over the years because of market responsiveness and the ability to customize and innovate for customers. AMRESCO persists in building upon it’s past by continuing to develop and introduce new and innovative products every year.
